Join us in beautiful Santa Teresa and experience the joy of surfing! Our lessons are taught by local instructors who will help you learn to surf and will introduce you to the Costa Rican culture.

Whether you’re taking your first lesson, or you’ve been surfing for years we’ll help you improve your technique and have an amazing time!

About Niko

Born and raised in Costa Rica, Niko has been surfing since he was a child and has been teaching surf lessons for 6 years. He works with anyone from beginner surfers to those who are looking for advanced coaching!

His teaching style focuses on educating you about the process and technique of surfing so that you can become confident in the water and make the most of every session.

He and his team of instructors are all ISA certified and speak both English and Spanish.

LESSON TYPES

Beginner

This beginner level class is best for those who are brand new to the surfing world or haven’t surfed in a long time.

In these lessons, we will start on land discussing the technique of how to surf and then will move to the gentle white water so you can practice popping up and riding waves. We will also discuss safety principles so that you can experience the joy of surfing and gain confidence in the water.

GROUP LESSON: $70 per person

PRIVATE LESSON: $95 per person

Intermediate

Once you’ve learned the basics and are more comfortable taking waves in the white water, you are ready for our intermediate surf lessons in the lineup. This means that we’ll paddle out further to catch small green waves (unbroken waves).

I’ll work with you to help you perfect your technique, improve your style and catch more waves. You'll surf on different types of waves and learn how to read the sea conditions to get the most out of each session.

GROUP LESSON: $70 per person

PRIVATE LESSON: $95 per person

Advanced Coaching

This lesson will be customized to help you work on your specific goals. We’ll focus on practicing skills that will help expand your surfing ability and you’ll get tips to boost your technique. This will help you feel more confident in the water and have more fun when surfing on your own.

To make the most of our session I recommend adding on a photo and video package so that we can review your form after the lesson.

COACHING LESSON: $95

COACHING LESSON WITH PHOTO & VIDEO: $145

FAQs

  • No previous experience is necessary! We love helping people catch their first ever wave. If you do have experience our team of instructors will be able to help you take your surfing to the next level.

  • We will provide boards, rash guards, wax, sunscreen and a snack for after the lesson. All you need to bring is yourself and a big smile!

  • The total lesson will be 2 hours (not including time for transportation). We will spend the first 10 minutes warming up on the beach and then will head into the water.

  • Safety is a top priority for us and we will always do our best to make sure you are safe at all times. Costa Rica is not known for sharks or other dangerous animals so no need to worry.

  • Even after just one lesson you will notice an improvement in your surfing. If you are hoping to progress from white water to green waves we usually recommend 3-5 depending on your skill level.

Surfing in Santa Teresa

Santa Teresa’s beaches are some of the most beautiful in Costa Rica and the perfect place to surf. They’re great for all ages and skill levels, whether you’re catching white water close to shore or paddling out for waves in the lineup!

Our group lessons will never be more than three surfers per instructor so you will get personalized attention and be kept safe. The goal is to help you gain independence and confidence in the water whether you are a beginner or already have experience. We will make sure you are safe in the water so you can have fun and learn quickly!
